Wrong. Heavy metal was born in 1970 with the release of Black Sabbaths debut album.

A good year for hard rock ..Heavy metal was born before 1974 with Black Sabbath and Deep purple .
HELLO, BLACK SABBATH. Some would also say maybe even earlier with the beatles Helter Skelter
The birth of Heavy Metal is Black Sabbath 1st album— that's it 🔥🔥🔥
These guys were great,Phil Mott great vocalist
Mogg finger slipped
It is true that the first actual Metal BAND was Black Sabbath but the first metal music was the very intense Hard Rock Progressive Led Zeppelin. As Sabbath themselves said their first year they (and others) got stoned everyday, lying on their backs listening to Zeppelin I and then II. Of course Zeppelin were not 'just Metal' being the Beatles of the early 70's. My favorite two bands. 'Helter Skelter was very metal for 1968. Then there was 'Innadadavida' by Iron Butterfly also 1968 covered by Slayer!
'Dr Dr Please' is just really lame and dated. It sucks and is NOT Metal and hardly Hard Rock. Rush are not Metal either, in this the heaviest song here is by Queen FFS!
