Who’s the celebrity or rock star that would make you instantly feel starstruck? For me, it’s probably James Hetfield or Mike Patton. For Nightwish vocalist Floor Jansen, it was Halestorm‘s Lzzy Hale, and the admiration was real.
Jansen explained her feelings on the matter during an interview with The Charismatic Voice‘s Elizabeth Zharoff. In the conversation, she was asked if there were any other musicians she’d like to collaborate with in some official capacity. And naturally, one of the names named was Hale’s.
“I would love to work with [Halestorm’s] Lzzy Hale. We’ve met once at a festival in the U.K. And there I felt a little starstruck, ’cause ever since I heard that beginning note of [the Halestorm track] ‘I Miss The Misery’, that song where she’s, like, [hitting that high note], I was, like, ‘Okay, yes. Yeah.’”
Being no slouch behind the mic herself, Jansen’s shared her feelings about Hale’s abilities in the past, including naming Halestorm’s The Strange Case Of… as one of the ten albums that changed her live during a Metal Hammer interview. At the time she had this to say about Hale:
“I’ve seen her live and all I can think is, how on Earth does your voice survive? She screams and kicks and grunts and everything she does is super cool. Lzzy is a powerhouse. She stands for being feminine in a man’s world and describing her feelings quite to the point in her lyrics.”
That’s all fine and awesome, but let’s remember one thing — Jansen’s a badass in her own right. I mean, she not only fronts an iconic symphonic metal band, but she also kicked cancer’s ass. So she’s no slouch either.
Who knows? Maybe Jansen’s dream of collaborating with Hale could come true. After all, we’ve seen Hale do some killer guest work over the years…
