🇫🇷 Une nuit, rassemblé avec ses amis autour d’un feu de camp, Tuomas Holopainen a l’idée de créer une formation musicale dont il composerait les airs. Cette anecdote, qui ressemble aux débuts d’un conte nordique, est à l’origine de l’idée de @nightwish, un groupe né dans une région de l’est de la Finlande, en Carélie du Nord.
Nightwish, ce nom vous dit peut-être quelque chose ? Aujourd’hui décrit comme le groupe-phare de la scène metal scandinave, il est aussi le représentant le plus connu du metal symphonique, un genre mêlant metal et influences issues de la musique lyrique. La voix du groupe, incarnée jusqu’en 2005 par Tarja Turunen, est remplacée d’abord par Anette Olzon, puis par Floor Jansen en 2012 : si la différence entre la première chanteuse et les suivantes marque un tournant dans le style du groupe, le groupe a su se réinventer et garantir sa longévité.
Et pour preuve ! En 2016, la formation fête ses vingt ans en grandes pompes, avec une tournée événement, notamment au Tampere Stadium en Finlande ou à Wembley, en Angleterre. Leur dernier album, Human. :II: Nature. est sorti en avril 2020 : un double album composé d’un CD de 9 titres et d’un long morceau divisé en huit chapitres sur le deuxième CD. Une nouvelle consécration pour le groupe aux albums multi-récompensés… qui viendra se produire sur la scène du Hellfest cette année !

Normally I am more a friend of Jazz Fusion (Corea, Duke, Miller, Hancock, Clarke, Cobham etc.), but the sound of Nightwish is really amazing, the show too…
Nightwish! Pure passion, love what they do, and how they do it together is so awesome! I'm so speechless. This band is bigger than team who works together! Amazing group and wonderful people. I love you! I think all fans will agree with me.
Floor and the members of Dream Theater would be great
With no Marko, she stepped up, and, of course, as she always does, she kicked ass. Don't get me wrong. Marko is Marko, and he'll be truly missed. But… WTF! She handled it all alone, with no time to rest her voice during songs. Floor is something else. She is a true Amazon indeed.

The group is magnificent, but she, her is simply transcndent, what a talent, beauty and a gigantic presence on stage!
Floor is the best singer in rock right now. She has the most range, versatility, etc. It’s one thing if you prefer more screaming I guess, but as far as actually singing this is as good as it gets right now. Absolutely elite.

desde que vi a Floor Jansen, me empezo a gustar esta banda, excelente voz buena energia, un buen estilo para la banda. Saludos desde Bogota Colombia, no puedo dejar de ver este video, ya que spotify solo tiene canciones con voces de las versiones anteriores.
Malheureusement, Floor a fait un burn-out et a dû soigner une grave maladie.

Floor Jansen has by FAR the best stage presence of any Metal, rock or pop singer that I have ever seen. And I have seen (and played in) many bands.

Por lo menos el chatito de atrás pelo blanco esta que la apoya en las notas graves para que no se sienta tan ligera su voz, justo en esas notas en donde se necesita mas peso, de igual manera aunque la señora Jansen hace muy bien su trabajo y lo esta manejando muy bien, se siente la ausencia del señor Hietala.

Just became aware of NIghtwish with Floor, looking forward to hearing more of their music. Already love "Sleeping Sun" , just wish they did a long version live.
I am new to Nightwish and have been listening to a variety of their songs and performances. The blend of prog and metal with a female vocalist resonates. There is a certain ethereal quality to the whole thing. That's why it's called symphonic metal and Nightwish is fabulous. Thanks to all and especially to the vision of Tuomas Holopainen.
My only quibble is that I wish some of the songs had longer instrumental sections. I watched the Hellfest 2022 performance all the way through and the last 2 songs, Ghost Love Score and Greatest Show on Earth, demonstrated that they certainly have the chops to do it.
I have not been this excited about finding a new band to listen to in decades (I'm 67).
