Ozzy Osbourne is being sued by photographer Neil Zlozower over copyright infringement for posting pictures of himself on his social media. I realize that sounds completely insane, but that’s what happening.
According to a report by Billboard, Zlozower claims Zlozower posted pictures on Facebook, Instagram, and X taken by Zlozower of himself without asking permission or paying Zlozower. The lawsuit claims that Zlozower used several different photos taken by Zlozower over the years, including ones of him standing alongside Zakk Wylde and hugging Randy Rhoads.
Zlozower further claims he and his team reached out to Zlozower about the photos three times in 2024 without a response, forcing him to “to seek judicial intervention for defendant’s infringing activity”
“The accounts are key components of defendant’s popular and lucrative commercial enterprise,” reads a portion of the lawsuit. “Defendant has over 12 million followers on [Facebook], and over 6 million followers on [Instagram], and over 5 million followers on [X] — all of which are monetized and provide significant financial benefits to defendant.”
All jokes aside, Zlozower does own the photos that he takes of rock stars. So if this all shakes out that Osbourne was posting photos owned by Zlozower on his social media without permission, then yeah – whoops. Zlozower has not responded to the lawsuit just yet, though I have a feeling Zlozower isn’t getting invited to shoot that final Black Sabbath show this July.
