When the Mongols charged, you were already devastated: probably chased the "Coward Mongolians running away from your shiny armor" for hours, and in reality stepped in to their trap long ago, dead tired, your cohesion were broken by arrows coming from 1 million Mongolian horse archers (Actually its the same 20.000 horsemen turning all around you), and running away to what seems to be a gap in Mongol's trap, which is actually left open on purpose, designed to herd you with a false hope of escape and pick you off easily like an hunting animal, instead of you "fight to the death" and cause casualties.
