The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame has announced the nominees for their class of 2025 and to the surprise of nobody at this point, it’s devoid of any metal acts. The closest we got this year was Soundgarden (who absolutely deserve it), who were previously nominated in 2020 and 2023. The nominees are:
- Bad Company
- The Black Crowes
- Mariah Carey
- Chubby Checker
- Joe Cocker
- Billy Idol
- Joy Division/New Order
- Cyndi Lauper
- Maná
- Oasis
- Outkast
- Phish
- Soundgarden
- The White Stripes
“This remarkable list of nominees reflects the diverse artists and music that the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame honors and celebrates,” said John Sykes, chairman of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Foundation, in a statement. “Continuing in the true spirit of rock and roll, these artists have created their own sounds that have impacted generations and influenced countless others that have followed in their footsteps.”
At this point, is anyone really surprised? You know the drill – the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame gets one or two heavier acts in there every single year, there’s some fluffy statement from the chairman about how it’s a great nomination list (see above), we all complain, and I’ll see y’all this time next year when I say the same thing. Cool? Cool. I guess there’s always 2026 for Iron Maiden and Motörhead.
The 2025 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony will take place in Los Angeles this fall
