TRIVIUM Is Plotting A New Record For 2026 Inspired By Ascendancy

Trivium is set to celebrate their 2005 album Ascendancy with a whole slew of tour dates this year. Though once that’s all wrapped up, they’ll be turning their attention to writing their first new record since In The Court Of The Dragon from 2021. According to Trivium guitarist Corey Beaulieu in an interview with Metal Global, the band spent their 2024 building their studio and is plotting a new record for 2026.

“We spent last year building our recording studio at our hangar. So we got that all up and running and stuff. And we’re always working on some new stuff. And since it’s been — 2021, I guess, was [when] the last record came out, or something like that, so it’s definitely our longest gap in records and everything. So, definitely new music will be on the horizon. We’ve been working on some stuff.”

“So, yeah, doing the Ascendancy anniversary thing, and the next thing on our plate is preparing for a new record. And then, obviously, 2026 will be new record, touring, festivals and stuff like that. So, it’ll be another busy year, just like this year, but it’ll be kind of flipping the page to kind of the next chapter, new music and moving forward and go from nostalgia to new stuff. So, we’re looking forward to it.”

Beaulieu further noted that rehearsing all their Ascendancy material for their 2025 tours has certainly had an effect on their headspace when it comes to new music. So y’know – get stoked.

“When we were on break rehearsing for the Ascendancy stuff, we kind of used playing Ascendancy as our mojo to kind of inspire us to write new music and stuff like that, kind of take that vibe and energy and kind of use it to make new stuff. So, we’ve got some stuff cooking, kind of marinating, and with the new studio, we can kind of go in and start tracking whenever we’ve got stuff ready to go.

“So, hopefully — I don’t know — sometime mid-next year, I don’t know exactly, we have no like timetable, but definitely at some some point next year there’ll be a record announcement or something coming out. Yeah, we’re looking forward to it. By that time, it’ll be five or six years since we had a new record out. So it’s definitely time.”
