Read interview below.

Hi! How are you? Thank you for taking the time for answering our questions!

I’m doing pretty well, thanks! & It’s my pleasure!

Congrats for the new single! So far how has the general reaction been? Have the fans and press liked it?

Thank you very much! The reaction from fans and the press has been extremely positive! I’m so thrilled that so many people are enjoying my music. There’s lots more on the way as well!

I’m Gone” came out exactly as you wanted or, listening now, would you change a thing or two?

Well, I do wish I could have recorded the drums with my acoustic kit instead of my digital one. However, once I found the right drum sound, I was happy with the end result. Ralf Scheepers really transformed the song by crafting me a new vocal sound, which I really love. Plus his mixing and mastering really pulled it all together and made it sound awesome!

What’s the main difference between you and the typical metal bands?

That’s a good question. I think what makes me a little different is the mix of old and new Metal styles. I wanted to pay homage to the legends of the past and make music that has a vintage feel to it, but also have some of the grit and power of modern Metal. I try not to limit myself creatively, I just make music that I enjoy and hope fans will enjoy it as well.

What are you addressing here, lyrically?

Well, “I’m Gone” was inspired by actual events from my past. It’s actually a composite of several women who were very toxic for me and I simply had to pack up and go. I think a lot of people can relate to that regardless of gender. The next single “Gone To Hell” however is about the madness of the modern world and whether or not we are willing to do something about it.

The band’s name is really metal. Why?

Thank you, I really like it. I think it suits the band and Metal in general because Immortality is a common theme in Metal music and Horror films which heavily influence the Metal scene.

With the pandemic situation, how do you promote the new single?

The pandemic has made promotion more complicated for sure. It’s now mostly promoted using the internet. I’m very fortunate to have Angel’s PR as my promotion company which has been doing a phenomenal job promoting my music all around the world!

What are your main influences?

My main influences are Motörhead, Judas Priest, Saxon, Primal Fear, Helloween and Iron Maiden. But the list goes on and on.

If you could organize a tour with the best bands of today’s heavy metal, what would these bands be?

Oh man! That’s a great question. My dream tour for Immortalizer would be with Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Saxon, Primal Fear and Helloween! Opening for any of those bands would be a dream come true!

Canada is very strong in rock and metal with many awesome bands. But what about the today’s metal scene in particular?

Canada is definitely big into Rock & Metal. Especially Montreal which has an incredible Metal army! Sadly though, it’s becoming harder and harder for new bands to play live because so many venues have been shut down and / or replaced by nightclubs and shops. So, they’re forced to rely mostly on the internet which can be very challenging. But I know that there’s a lot of talented Canadian bands out there.

What do you do when not playing or doing Immortalizer stuff?

Well, most of my time is devoted to writing and recording music, but in my downtime I really enjoy watching movies and concert DVD’s. I like video games too. I also enjoy reading, especially graphic novels and music biographies. But all kinds of books really. I also love to draw and design album covers.

Do you listen to other genres outside of hard rock and metal? What “outside” bands do you listen to?

Most of the music I listen to is Metal and Heavy Rock, but I also enjoy some Classic Rock bands like KISS, Rush, Van Halen and Thin Lizzy. I do like some older Punk bands like The Misfits, Subhumans, The Clash and The Ramones. But Metal is and will always be my favorite genre of music! \m/

Any last words for our readers?

I’d like to thank Immortalizer fans everywhere for their continued support! You Metal Monsters are the best!

Again, thanks for your time and stay safe!

The pleasure is all mine. Thank you for all the kind words. Take good care & stay safe out there!
