Days of Jupiter – The World Was Never Enough Review

I do have a thing for albums with tittles with deep reflective philosophical matters as “The World Was Never Enough.” They make me think. They make me wonder. I start thinking what the band means by the tittle. What message they want to pass. What kind of music is in it. It’s good to wonder about all of these things.

“The World Was Never Enough” invites the fan to depart in a journey of complex feelings because it is a musically complex album of many, but many layers of features. Days of Jupiter planned the album to be as complex as its tittle. In short, it’s very hard to label the music Days of Jupiter perform here. I would say it is a kind of Melodic Metalcore as no song has a guitar lead, the guitars have that strong tone and sometimes they are in a kind of background, but vocals are pretty damn good and the songs prove the band had some time to plan than ahead with many details. Well, I would say details are the thing about the album.

I would say with “The World Was Never Enough” it is possible to realize that Days of Jupiter deliver many influences. Disturbed are the first band that jumps to the eye, though, from where I’m standing Days of Jupiter are much more melodic. I may be flat wrong, but in some tracks I felt Janne Hilli’s vocals had a huge influence of Iced Earth “The Dark Saga.” Even though no track has guitar leads, the guitar work in tracks as opening “Original Sin” with a very remarkable drumming. Also remarkable are the bass lines in tittle track “The World Was Never Enough.” The feeling I aforementioned about vocals is here as well. I am not saying it is a bad thing, on the contrary, it is a great reference.

The lyrics in “The World Was Never Enough” show some kind of cynicism, as far as I am concerned. That’s also a great thing. Cynicism is nowadays the best way not to get overwhelmed by tons of that smelly organic material we find in our bathrooms. This album has lots of it. Cynicism, I mean.

When I look to the album cover of “The World Was Never Enough” I see some kind of sci-fi end-of-the-world thematic. It is also great to some reflection about what we are doing to our little and sad and pathetic little planet.
