AH YES, THAT VIDEO. Looking back at his takes. we really didn't lose much with his departure. And to those who call him a poser/grifter, he is worse. He is not posing as a metalhead but specifically an "im not like the other metalheads" metalhead. It seems like non-conformity is the sole reason why he thinks something as non-profitable as black metal can exist.

most black metal sucks. there's only a handful of bands that are good. death metal has a lot more good bands. there's still a lot of bad death metal but it's so much worse with black metal.

He was right about a lot of black metal bands doing the same sound that had already been done but sometimes thats fine aswell, that exists in every genre. But him saying black metal sounds the same and ran out of creative juices decades ago was such an obvious bs statement. Theres probably not another subgenre of metal that has such varied styles as black metal, theres like 50 different ways you can make black metal lol. Basically subgenres within a subgenre, you can have both new creative sounds and "revival" sounding bands exist at the same time.

We are the adults at the shows now. We were there when the old heads would trash the new bands we liked because they tried something different. Or didn't dress or look the right way. We know what it feels like. Now that we are in a position to do better, we are better. The old days are gone. Thankfully. I like being able to bring my partner, kids, or friends to a show and have them have a good time. Then fear for themselves. We want everyone to be able to enjoy the show and just have a good time.

Culturally, for five minutes back in its inception, black metal was legitimately frightening. I prefer to keep alive the spirit of those days.

Musically, a person who isn't swayed by the hypnotic, majestic effect of a tremolo picked riff is someone who lacks the emotional wavelength required to feel the black metal experience.

"They all sound the same." "They're nerds." Blah blah.

This is just irrelevant outsider talk.

And that's how it should be.

Good video, very enjoyable. Do you know the band Carach Angren. Good music with great storytelling. The song when crows tick on windows is very good.

  15. I see this was six months ago, but I'm glad it came up in my feed today. Thank you for making this video. I am into Black Metal, but the earlier Black Metal. I do listen to a lot of what Black Metal Promotions shares on their channel and there are some great bands that I've heard on there. You're a really cool source of music and information and so thank you once again.

Black metal also didn't like the colorful album art of death metal so their covers were usually in black and white. But I don't care about the hate. I enjoy both of them. I probably like black metal more but I like both. From what I've heard it wasn't their intention back then to be popular. It was something they did for themselves but then people outside of their culture like me started to like it.

I feel targeted 😂 As a metalcore fan also, thats the reason i love metal core is the mix of clean vocals and the roars, because sometimes I'm big on lyrics and lyricism just as much as instrumentals, hard rock is also good for that too. Im like the exact opposite of a gate keeper, i welcome and open to engage in a all forms of the metal and rock genre as long as its actual rock or metal.
