Ozzy Osbourne has stated that his contributions to BLACK SABBATH‘s final performance will be limited.
BLACK SABBATH‘s final show, scheduled for July 5th at Villa Park in Birmingham, England, is shaping up to be a historic event. Dubbed “Back To The Beginning,” this concert will mark the culmination of the band’s groundbreaking career and a celebration of their enduring legacy.
This event mark a reunion for BLACK SABBATH’s original lineup—Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward—playing together for the first time in two decades.
The legendary heavy metal band will headline a special one-day festival at Villa Park, showcasing numerous bands they influenced, such as METALLICA, PANTERA, SLAYER, GOJIRA, and ANTHRAX.
On his SiriusXM show “Ozzy Speaks,” Ozzy, who hasn’t performed a full concert since late 2018, said: “I’m not planning on doing a set with BLACK SABBATH but I am doing little bits and pieces with them. I am doing what I can, where I feel comfortable.”
“I am trying to get back on my feet,” he continued. “When you get up in the morning, you just jump out of bed. I have to balance myself, but I’m not dead. I’m still actively doing things.”
Ozzy‘s wife and manager Sharon recently discussed her husband’s health issues and their potential impact on his ability to perform in July. She stated: “It’s going to take a lot of physical energy for Ozzy. It takes a lot for someone with Parkinson’s. But we feel so proud of all Ozzy has achieved, and all he’s overcome. I’m proud of him, and I’m happy for him.
“He’s overwhelmed. He’s very overwhelmed by the response of his friends. He said, ‘Wow, they’re doing this for me?’
“When you’ve got your peers, and your friends with you, there’s nothing bigger. Well, aside from fans, of course. They come first.”
BLACK SABBATH fans were outraged and disappointed when tickets for the band’s final Birmingham concert sold out in just 16 minutes on Ticketmaster. The July 5th fundraising gig, with ticket packages ranging from £495 to £795, will benefit Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Acorn Children’s Hospice, and Cure Parkinson’s, a charity close to Osbourne‘s heart as he battles the disease.
