ROOTBRAIN Releases ‘Unawares’ Live Video

Following the release of their crushing new single “Unawares,” ROOTBRAIN now delivers an electrifying live video, capturing the raw energy and blistering performance from their debut show at Skenesali in Vantaa. With Mothertomb set to drop on March 5th via Corpsepaint Records, this live video offers an unfiltered glimpse into the band’s primal, groove-heavy intensity.

Filmed in an underground venue, the “Unawares” live video is a sonic and visual assault, packed with punishing riffs, relentless grooves, and the commanding vocal presence of Jules Näveri. For fans of blackened grunge, groove, and doom-infused metal, this is ROOTBRAIN at their most visceral and unhinged.

‘“Unawares’ was the first song I wrote for the EP. Within the band, it’s better known by its working title, Horror Jackson. You might hear where the association comes from. It’s kinda ROOTBRAIN in a nutshell—heavy, groovy, badass, and full of melody and dynamics,” bassist Thomas Wright comments.

This explosive live video captures ROOTBRAIN’s debut show, an intense, sweat-drenched performance in the depths of Skenesali, a hidden gem in the Vantaa metal scene. The atmosphere is thick with distortion, pounding drums, and the sheer force of Näveri’s guttural, yet hauntingly melodic vocals.

ROOTBRAIN is a Finnish-German alternative metal band blending elements of blackened grunge, groove, and doom-infused melodies. Featuring members of TRIPTYKON, PROFANE OMEN, and KUOLEMANLAAKSO, the band has carved out a distinct sound that bridges the intensity of extreme metal with haunting melodic sensibilities. Their debut album Breakwater (2023) established them as a formidable presence, and Mothertomb marks the next chapter in their evolving sound.

ROOTBRAIN is currently working on their second full-length album, slated for recording in 2025.
