New Deftones has been in the works for quite some time, though it appears that wait to hear it will soon come to an end.
According to Deftones frontman Chino Moreno interview with Billboard Español conducted during December 2024, the band’s plan was to “have a record sometime around that time [during the tour.] It’s getting very close to being ready, so yeah, we’re excited.” Considering Deftones is kicking off their tour with The Mars Volta and Fleshwater tonight in Portland, OR, it seems safe to assume that we’ll hear something about the new material very soon.
In the same interview, Moreno‘s Crosses counterpart Shaun Lopez also touched on the potential of the project following up their 2023 full-length Goodnight, God Bless, I Love U, Delete: “I don’t know how soon it’ll be, but we definitely want to work on more music. We enjoy making it and yeah, I just would like to thank everybody for showing interest in our project.”
