This INXS Concert Was Legendary

This INXS Concert Was Legendary

On July 13, 1991, INXS gathered 74,000 people at Wembley Stadium for what was certainly their most iconic show. The Australian group was at the peak of their success.

The United Kingdom finally rolled out the red carpet for INXS. Wembley Stadium was packed to capacity and electrified as ‘Guns in the Sky’ opened the show with a barrage of infernal hits. The sound was typical of the era: with the snare drum upfront, compressed guitars, blazing saxophone, and sparkling keyboards.

Moments of bravery followed one another, including performances of ‘Lately,’ ‘Devil Inside’ and the torrid ‘Suicide Blonde’. Christ-like as he addressed the crowd, Michael Hutchence’s eyes were moist. He moves like a clone of Mick Jagger doubling Jim Morrison in the big pool of sexy, funky, and terribly effective pop.

The show is precise, although without pyrotechnic effects or giant screens. But Wembley falls without resistance into the arms of INXS, delivering a Homeric performance.

The concert was recorded on 35mm film and is available in a restored 4K version on YouTube, so please go and enjoy this fleeting moment where INXS, on stage, was unsurpassable.

How I wish I was there. At least they got this on tape. Literally. However, it's not the same as being there.

I will never believe he committed suicide…he had everything to live for and was the very next day going with inxs to have world domination again….shockingly…i have seen a naked photo of Michael taken straight after and realize there's no way Michael would have wanted that….find who put that photo on internet and you may have his murderer….plus his only child got virtually nothing from her father's death..

I like all genres of music. Prince is the ultimate to me. When it came to new wave, I have a few bands that send me through it. Siouxsie and the Banshees is way up there, then Depeche mode really has been a favorite since before 1985. However, the moment I heard this band as a young black guy in southern California I fell instantly in their stratosphere. I unfortunately did not ever get to see them perform due to Michael's suicide. That death stopped me from going to all concerts, unless I got VIP treatment, or it was free. I really wish he did not kill himself, he had so many fans that would constantly come see them perform. Someone in the comments wants them in the Hall of Fame. I agree, so lets all get them nominated and then vote so that they are.

💯 INXS should be in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. Everyone knows it. The fact they aren't just shows how jealous Bob was, and still is of Michael. INXS & Michael Hutchence will go down in history either way❤️

He had a great voice….he was like about EVERYBODY else!!! He just COULD NOT….control his levels of Drug dependence. He LOVED cocaine….but if anybody EVER snorted really good cocaine…emm. like snorting a line of great meth, with an oxy 30. It was a blast of the best of energetic enfused nose candy that had an Oxy 30 mg pill busted up in it. It was Just like Acid, as far as making peoples mouths run CONSTANTLY.
