Festivals happen in “far away” places all the time. They’re definitely not something exclusive to whatever state or country you might happen to be in. But when you hear the “destination” when it comes to some major event, you think of weddings or other annoyingly jovial goings-on. The newest destination fun actually comes from Tool and Festication, who have announced “Tool Live in the Sand,” a “destination festival” that boasts some hella fancy shit.
This trippy and immersive festival will be taking place March 7-9, 2025 at the mad bougie, all-inclusive five-star Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and Royalton Resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Accommodations include luxury resort rooms, unlimited food and drinks, and the chance to be adventurous as fuck with catamaran rides, snorkeling, and all sorts of other audacious delights. Fancy fancy.
Tool is headlining of course, with two sets made of their extensive discography, plus a lineup of somehow the most random yet fitting bands to round out the bill. Who are those bands you ask? Well, it includes Primus, Mastodon, and Cohered and Cambria, with one of the real kickers being Fishbone. Yes, that Fishbone. Eagles of Death Metal, CKY, Moonwalker, King’s X, and Wheel round out the rest of the lineup, with visual artists Allyson and Alex Grey will also being in the mix.
Speaking of the planned festival, Tool’s Justin Chancellor excitedly said he and his bandmates were stoked to share the stage with the other bands.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to share the news that Primus, Mastodon and Cohered & Cambria will be joining us for our first-ever Caribbean performance at ‘Tool In The Sand’. 2025 is shaping up nicely. See you all there for what should be an unforgettable weekend of music!”
Tyler Fey, one of the co-founders behind Festication said:
“Feyline is thrilled to curate TOOL’s first-ever destination festival, delivering an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience for their dedicated fans. This event will fuse world-class music with the luxury of the Dominican Republic, creating an immersive rock adventure like no other.” The band’s other co-founder Donnie Estopinal added how “Booking TOOL nearly 30 years later feels like my career has come full circle. It’s incredible to go from that unforgettable night in New Orleans to now curating their first destination festival. This is the kind of experience I’ve always dreamed of bringing to fans — something immersive, intimate, and legendary.”
Presale for festival packages starts at 10 am on October 30. For more information on ticket purchase and planning, visit the festival’s site here.
