After parting ways with Dream Theater in October 2023, drummer Mike Mangini is back with a brand-new project. His new band, Monolith, features Hernán “Motley” Rodríguez handling bass and vocals, alongside Andy Barrow on guitar.
Details about Monolith remain scarce for now, but the group has shared their debut single, “Oligarchs”, accompanied by a music video. It’s an alternative metal song, that somehow delivers a mix of Sevendust, Clint Lowery & Tremonti vibes, and of course you’ll get some interesting drumming patterns and fills from Mangini. I, for one, am glad to see him playing again.
