PUDDLE OF MUDD‘s charity appearance at Daytona Bike Week, which successfully raised $5,000 for St. Jude’s, was overshadowed by Wes Scantlin‘s troubled performance.
Scantlin, accused of being impaired on stage, claims a former bandmate intentionally compromised his performance. Reports from the show describe him stumbling and rambling, leading to audience dissatisfaction.
“Last night’s show was a total disaster. I felt really bad for the rest of his band,” noted one attendee in the comments of the Broken Spoke Saloon’s posting about the show.
“I feel bad for the band to have to play such good instruments while Wes just stumbled and rambled about Fred Durst on stage. Good work amazing performance put on to everyone but Wes,” another person added.
The next day, a fan stopped Scantlin outside the venue and recorded a video asking him about the show. The video was shared on the Facebook page of Cash4HarleyParts.com, where the vocalist said: “I suck, I suck and I suck … but I was roofied.”
“My old bass player Sean Sammon roofied me last night, so he can go f**k his a*s,” Scantlin concluded his statement with an obscene gesture towards the camera, directed at Sammon, before departing.
