This obviously had an influence on black metal, but just to show how connected metal was back then before everything started getting broken down into subgenres, I think if you listen closely, some of the vocal lines almost sound like parts of Metallica's "Fight Fire with Fire," particularly the final part of that song where they just say "Fight fire with fire" over and over again. The drumming isn't that far off, either.
