Yes, they were supposed to headline this year’s Louder Than Life and no, this isn’t just a rehashed news story from the previous announcement. It turns out Slayer is getting a second crack at headlining Louder Than Life after shitty weather that came about as a result of Hurricane Helene forced organizers to cancel the thrash metal legends’ set.
This announcement comes way earlier than their normal lineup reveal because of the extenuating circumstances surrounding the previous cancellation. Danny Wimmer, of Danny Wimmer Presents, said this was a great opportunity to make things right for the folks that missed out on seeing Slayer live.
“We can’t wait to welcome fans back to finish what we started this year and celebrate the return of Slayer. Our team is hard at work finalizing an incredible lineup that we can’t wait to reveal this winter. It’s going to be epic, and we can’t wait to see everyone back in Louisville next September.”
As for the people that attended this year’s Louder Than Life that were affected by the storms, organizers revealed that single day Friday pass holders can get a full refund or have that refund credited toward the purchase of 2025 passes. Weekend pass holders can get the same, but only for 25% of the cost. Emails regarding the details of the offer, as well as how to activate said offer, will go out to everyone this applies to.
It’s cool to see Danny Wimmer Presents doing something like this to help ease the sting of missing out that these pass holders must have felt at the time. And hey — more Slayer’s good Slayer, amirite?
