WEEZER bassist Scott Shriner was approached by paparazzi Thursday morning (April 10) as he walked his dogs, a day after an incident involving his wife, Jillian Lauren.
Reports indicate that Lauren allegedly pointed and discharged a firearm at a police officer. Following her refusal to drop the weapon, she was reportedly shot in the arm during the ensuing standoff.
Lauren received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released on $1 million bail after being charged with attempted murder.
In a video published by TMZ, Shriner declined to comment on his wife’s situation. However, he confirmed his intention to perform with WEEZER at the Coachella festival this weekend, stating, “See you at Coachella,” accompanied by a shaka hand gesture before moving away from the camera towards his residence.
Jennifer Forkish, Director of Communications for the LAPD, told NBC News that the situation escalated rapidly.
She said: “Our investigation revealed evidence such as a shell casing and video footage showing she repeatedly ignored police commands to disarm and that she fired her weapon at LAPD officers.”
