There are two things that immeadiately jump to the face of my dear children of the night. First of all is about the right-to-your-face musical attitude LIK impose here with a Hardcore vein plus an Old School Heavy Metal punch. I dare to say “Necro” is all about 1980’s Old School Death Metal plus the melodic guitars of our dear Old School Heavy Metal. Drumming is pulsating, intense, and exciting that it makes it impossible for the dear fan not to bang until the neck falls off. Second of all, I could not help it comparing the album cover with the all time classic Demon “The Night of the Demon.” The same main idea.
Musicwise, “Necro” is a very exciting album with uptempo tracks following a Hardcore musical structure plus the melodic guitars from Old School Heavy Metal. “Necro” praises the loud with lots of nostalgia melt with some modern influences that makes it a unique piece. My guess is modern day death metallers will strange a lot this album because it takes a long detour from Death Metal road to reach the hidden guitar tradition from HeavyMetalville.
Album warmer “Deceased” tells this tale commencing with tons of energy commanded by a pulsating old school style drumming. Immediately even the coldest headbanger will start to bang. It is impossible to stand still as the overwhelming energy delivered by the four-piece death metallers takes the fan’s pure soul. It is also impossible not to realize Metallica’s influence during its midtempo moment about the third minute. Dang! “Deceased” is so cool! With a less rough vocal “War Praise” could easily be a Thrash Metal track due to the melodic guitars and the pulsating drumming. The main guitar riffing inspired on 1980’s tradition does all the trick here. I just loved the guitar duel initiated by the second minute reminding a lot the greatest moments of Iron Maiden and Tokyo Blade. So melodic and so punchy at the same time. It is small details as the Ace Frehley inspired squeky screaming guitar near the second minute of “They” that make this album so off-road and, for it, so inspiring. Again my dear child of the night might remember Metallica with the small break at “Worms Inside” whose guitars scream like hell honoring the band’s tradition of slowtempo sequences full of anger.
So goes “Necro” until its apex with th epic grand finale “Rotten Inferno” which features a spoken-word monologue from Swedish actor Daniel Sjöberg. A friend of Tomas’, he’s known for work that includes 2020’s The Postcard Killings (which stars The Walking Dead’s Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and 1997’s Beck (featuring Game of Thrones’ Kristofer Hivju). Instant classic.
This is the tradition Metal Blade Records always delivers Metal fans worldwide. It is in their DNA to support like LIK.
