SAMMY HAGAR And KIRK HAMMETT Tease Exciting New Collaboration With A Working Title

During an interview on Ultimate Classic Rock‘s UCR Podcast, Sammy Hagar shared that he and METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett are exploring a musical collaboration. The potential song, expected to have a supernatural vibe rooted in Hagar‘s interest in extraterrestrial phenomena, already has a working title, according to the Red Rocker.

Hagar revealed: “You know who’s a big fan of all of that? KIRK HAMMETT from METALLICA. We’re writing a song right now called ‘The Seven Sisters.’ Well, we’re not writing it [yet, but] we’re talking about writing it. ‘The Seven Sisters,’ which is the Pleiades, where a lot of these people are coming from. For the ride out of the song, we’re going to go into [part of] “Silver LIghts” [from Hagar‘s 1976 solo album Nine on a Ten Scale].”

Sammy and Kirk are gearing up for a reunion in July, where they’ll take the stage at Ozzy Osbourne and BLACK SABBATH‘s farewell concert in Birmingham, England. The singer has already shared which Ozzy song he’ll be performing during the event.

Sammy Hagar recently unveiled a heartfelt new single, “Encore, Thank You, Goodnight.” via Big Machine Rock. Co-written with guitar icon Joe Satriani, the melodic rock anthem was born from a dream and brought to life through reflective lyrics, soaring chords, and dynamic guitar and drum work.

Inspired by a vivid dream Hagar had about the late Eddie Van Halen, the song marks a full-circle moment in his storied career. “Encore, Thank You, Goodnight.” features Hagar on vocals, Michael Anthony on bass, Joe Satriani on guitar and Kenny Aronoff on drums. The production — handled by HagarSatriani and Eric Caudieux — delivers a sound that is at once nostalgic and forward-looking. According to Hagar, the dream that sparked the song came about a year after Eddie‘s passing and left a lasting impact. Rather than being a somber farewell, the song is a celebration and expression of appreciation — for the fans, and for the unforgettable chapter they shared in VAN HALEN.
