ROBERT FRIPP & TOYAH Perform DAVID BOWIE Classic “Heroes” For Sunday Lunch (Video)

King Crimson founder Robert Fripp and his wife, Toyah Willcox, have shared their cover of the iconic David Bowie song, “Heroes”, released in 1977.

Robert played guitar on the original recording of “Heroes”, which appears on Bowie’s 12th album of the same name.

Robert and Toyah: “Remembering our fallen…”

For the recording of the Heroes album, Robert was recruited at producer Brian Eno’s suggestion. He recalled in an interview “I got a phone call when I was living in New York in July 1977. He said that he and David were recording in Berlin and passed me over. David said, ‘Would you be interested in playing some hairy rock ‘n’ roll guitar?’ I said, ‘Well, I haven’t really played for three years – but, if you’re prepared to take a risk, so will I.’”

Upon his arrival to the studio, Robert sat down and recorded lead guitar parts for tracks he had never heard before. He also received little guidance from Bowie, who had yet to write lyrics or melodies. Robert completed all his guitar parts in three days.
