Remember how this year’s Furnace Fest was supposed to be the last one ever? Organizers said it was as such, billing it as the last chance that fans can experience a wild time at The Sloss Furnaces in Birmingham, Alabama. Hell, all the promotional material had a macabre tone to it, with coffins and grave-adjacent imagery used pretty consistently. For the second time in its existence, the festival seemed like it was dead after this year.
Except now it’s looking like that ain’t the case at all. In a post on the festival’s Instagram page, graphics showing a tombstone with the Furnace Fest logo and a faded out “2024” on it were posted, along with the following statement that asks what everyone’s doing next October.
“Furnace Fest family: we’re not crying; you’re crying! We love you forever, and all four million fifteen thousand seven hundred and fifty-two seconds since October 6th have been pure misery!
“For those of you who got married, engaged, flew around the world (het spijt me, mijn Nederlandse gozers!), spent too much magic credit card money, and everyone else thinking you’d never see Sloss Furnaces together again, we apologize in advance for finding a way to reunite—for the sake of the children!
“Artist and agent friends, we can hardly believe we’re saying this. Is anyone doing anything around October 3rd – 5th, 2025??? [email protected]”
It should be noted that following the statement were various hashtags like #noendofanera #cancelfurnacefestnowfortoyingwithmyEMOtions. We see you, guys.
As mentioned before, this wouldn’t be the first time the festival’s “died” and come back. It originally ran between 2000 to 2003 and then vanished for 18 years before coming back in 2021. So from now on, let’s all just agree to never believe anyone when they say something’s done and over with.
