ALICE IN CHAINS was forced to cancel their May 8 concert at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut after drummer Sean Kinney suffered what the band described as a “non-life-threatening medical emergency.”
The band shared the news via social media shortly after soundcheck, posting the following statement: “After our soundcheck this evening at the Mohegan Sun Arena, Sean experienced a non-life-threatening medical emergency. We unfortunately have to cancel tonight’s show. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Refunds are available at the point of purchase.”
No additional details about Kinney’s condition have been released, but the incident comes just as Alice in Chains gears up for a busy May schedule. The band is still set to appear at multiple festivals this month, including MMRBQ in Camden, NJ (May 10), Sonic Temple in Columbus, OH (May 11), and Welcome to Rockville in Daytona Beach, FL (May 16). They’re also scheduled for headlining shows in Nashville, TN (May 13) and Dothan, AL (May 15).
Looking ahead, ALICE IN CHAINS is slated to join the bill for the final BLACK SABBATH/Ozzy Osbourne performance on July 5 in Birmingham, UK—a historic event marking the legendary singer’s farewell.
