Blunt’s Official 2025 Heavy Music Rankings

To capture what truly mattered this year, Blunt created something new.

The Data Behind the List

WHAT IS THE BLUNT IMPACT SCORE?

The Blunt Impact Score (BIS) is Blunt Magazine’s transparent system for ranking a track’s real world impact. BIS combines three publicly visible factors:

• Streaming Impact (50 percent), global traction, playlist presence and visible platform performance.
• Cultural Impact (30 percent), critical praise, fan conversation, virality and influence.
• Chart Impact (20 percent), official positions on Billboard, ARIA, UK charts and other major rankings.

Because Spotify and other DSPs do not publish full public streaming numbers, BIS uses only publicly observable signals. These are the same indicators labels, managers and analysts rely on to measure a track’s true scale.

1. Sleep Token – Caramel

BIS: 100 out of 100

The biggest heavy track of the year.
“Caramel” reached number one on Billboard’s Hot Hard Rock Songs, broke into global Spotify charts, topped the New York Times Songs of 2025 list and became a cultural event far beyond the heavy scene. A clear and absolute number one.

2. Deftones – My Mind Is a Mountain

BIS: 85 out of 100

A genuine milestone for Deftones.
The single became their first number one on Mainstream Rock Airplay and sparked huge fan engagement and critical praise. This was more than a comeback, it was a reset of the Deftones mythos.

3. Disturbed – I Will Not Break

BIS: 79 out of 100

Disturbed returned with force.
The song hit number one on Rock Airplay, placed high on Hot Hard Rock Songs and reminded the world that this band still defines the upper tier of American hard rock. Heavy, polished and highly effective.

Two huge fanbases, one chaotic collaboration.
The single triggered global coverage, major playlisting and heavy discussion within both metal and pop adjacent communities. A defining moment in 2025’s alternative landscape.

7. Deftones – Milk of the Madonna

BIS: 70 out of 100

The artistic curveball of the Deftones return.
Critics championed it, fans obsessively analysed it and playlists pushed it steadily. International chart flickers helped reinforce Deftones’ creative momentum in 2025.

These ten tracks shaped the energy and direction of heavy music in 2025. The Blunt Impact Score will continue to expand into artists, albums and emerging acts throughout 2026.

Heavy music has always spoken loudly, but now the data speaks too. BIS is here to keep score.
