The Bon Jovi video rarities YouTube channel, hAnD90, has shared a reconstructed / remastered pro-shot video, Live At Tokyo Dome, shot during the New Jersey tour on December 31st, 1988.
hAnD90: “We had done this show in 2022 I think, this time around, I reworked the video tape for about a week, painstakingly filtering the grain from the tape and then remastering colours as well as gamma levels before slightly overlaying it for more stability. As always, YT’s compression washes a bit of that out, but upon direct comparison, it’s certainly a big step forward! The audio was remastered from scratch, trying to keep the original vibe in there with a nice punching bass, but also working on getting the guitars ‘de-muffled’ from the mix and the vocals, drums and keyboards to be a little more pristine. I really pushed it with regards to this, leading to very faint distortions in some of Richie’s solos, but it’s got a great rock vibe I think.
Furthermore, the broadcast had left out three tracks at the time: ‘Homebound Train’, ‘Let It Rock’ and ‘Get Ready’. A rather bad audience tape of the show exists (quite distorted in parts) and was reworked and added in the gaps along with rare photos audience photos from that night. Audio and video remastered!”
