COURTNEY LAPLANTE Talks Getting On Stage With MEGAN THEE STALLION At Coachella & Being GRAMMY Nominated

Spiritbox has been having a pretty incredible past few months. The band was nominated for a GRAMMY (they lost, but they still had a hilarious viral moment), and then Spiritbox vocalist Courtney LaPlante made headlines herself after getting on stage with Megan Thee Stallion at Coachella.

In a new interview with ABC News, LaPlante called getting on stage with Megan Thee Stallion “one of the coolest moments of her life.” LaPlante also joked that she has no idea how anyone could be a pop star and live that life, but hey – someone’s gotta do it.

“That was one of the coolest moments of my life,” said LaPlante as transcribed by Metal Injection. “Aside from just being such a huge fan of Megan—she’s someone I’ve been enthusiastic about since 2018, when I saw her on YouTube and just immediately fell in love. It was so satisfying to work with her and get insight into her creativity and her process, and learn about what influences her.

“But selfishly, aside from that, getting to — for 24 hours — live the life of a pop star and just be thrown into that world… it was the craziest moment of my life. I don’t know how they do that every night.”

LaPlante also talked about losing out to Gojira at the GRAMMYs for Best Metal Performance, and being a woman nominated in a GRAMMY category that a woman-fronted band has never won.

“I feel a little bit of pressure. But I feel less pressure now because I realize there are people I can look to as heroes,” said LaPlante. “So yes, maybe a woman-fronted band hasn’t won, but Lzzy Hale won when it was a Rock category, and that’s someone I can look up to. Like, she did it, so I can do it. I’m trying to be more comfortable and not be so self-deprecating about my accomplishments. I was about to make some joke to you, and then I was like — no, you did do that thing. Your EP got nominated back-to-back.”
