West Virgnia metalcore band Curses has gone on indefinite hiatus after splitting with drummer Tyrsson Demarest. Curses said their decision to go on hiatus after getting rid of Demarest was due to an “untenable situation brought about by personal conflict.”
“Effective immediately, Tyrsson Demarest is no longer associated with Curses,” wrote the band. “We ask that everyone please respect our privacy regarding this matter. That being said, due to an untenable situation brought about by personal conflict within the band, we have decided it’s best to put Curses on an indefinite hiatus. We will be releasing one final song in the coming weeks.”
“We’d like to thank everyone for all the time spent, the moments shared, and the memories made together. It really isn’t possible to fully express how much this has meant to us over the years. We will always cherish what you’ve given us.”
Demarest issued his own statement on the matter, saying his firing was “no fault of my own” and that everyone should “respect each individual’s privacy regarding the matter.” So clearly something happened within Curses, but nobody seems too keen on talking about it at the moment.
“As you all have seen, I am no longer associated with Curses, with no fault of my own. As was stated previously, please respect each individual’s privacy regarding the matter. Thank you to everyone involved over the last couple of years. I had a wonderful time filled with great memories.”
