Dropkick Murphys made a slew of headlines on St. Patrick’s Day, and not for their usual Irish-related reasons.
It all started at Dropkick Murphys‘ annual St. Patrick’s Day show at MGM Music Hall in Boston, MA on March 16. Dropkick Murphys frontman Ken Casey called out one Trump supporter in the crowd wearing a white MAGA hat (after calling the black ones “Elon Musk Nazi edition”), saying: “If you’re in a room full of people and you want to know who’s in a cult, how do you know? They’ve been holding up a fucking hat the whole night to represent a president.
Casey continued: “This is America, there’s no kings here. Anyway, sir, we’re gonna play a song about our grandparents and people who fought Nazis in the war and shit, you know? So if you could just shut the fuck up for five minutes.”
Then fans noticed that Dropkick Murphys‘ X (formerly Twitter) account was suspended, leading to headlines about how Elon Musk banned the band for their comments. And while that’s absolutely the small dick coward energy Musk brings to the table, Casey says it’s not true.
In a comment proivded by Dropkick Murphys‘ management from Casey, he said: “We broke up with him first. We quit Twitter in 2022 when he was only half a Nazi. Then someone else took our handle, pretending to be our official account, so we filed a legal complaint to put a stop to that—which is why @dropkickmurphys shows as suspended. Look, we pulled our account because we didn’t want to be part of that guy’s empire. But if we were still on there, I’m sure he would have suspended us by now.”
So there you have it – Elon Musk still fucking sucks, but this time he didn’t actually do anything.
