Dynazty – Game of Faces Review

Game of Faces e1739192808901

After a bunch of albums with AFM Records, one of the most iconic recording companies dedicated to Metal music, Dynazty decided to part ways and join Nuclear Blast Records, another iconic recording companies dedicated to Metal music. From the albums I’ve been receveing throught the bunch of years I am writing to Metal Addicts I guess Nuclear Blast Records has the most varied collection of bands.

Every time a band changes its recording company, their fans should expect a shift in the music. It is a natural process, so, I was told. When I received the press release of “Game of Faces,” I was expecting the AFM Records Dynazty and I put it to play with that expectation. Let’s say I had a shock when I heard album welcomer “Call of the Night” and noticed the music was somewhat different from the music I was used to after three albums reviewed. Well, I must say I was so challenged by the shifts in the band’s music that I had to read all the three reviews I wrote about them not to be misled. It is so easy, and tempting, to speak ill of bands…

Ok, then, after listening to the “Game of Faces” three times with lots of care and attention, I realized there are slight changes with Dynazty‘s formula. In one hand, they got more near modern Symphonic Metal bands adding more and more electronic effects. Their music got even more accessible to younger fans. “Fortune Favors the Brave” tells this tale better than I would. In fact, to some extent, Dynazty got more European. On the other hand, believe or not, guitars got stronger and leads got longer. “Dark Angel” favors this position. Of course, those features were present at the past albums, but here they got stronger. To some extent, I guess “Game of Faces” is heavier than its predecessors, believe it or not. The catch is the elements added to the music in a greater or lesser level.

My opinion is that “Game of Faces” is a kind of game changer to Dynazty‘s career. This is the kind of album that will take the band to the other level of popularity. In our times of extreme insecurity this is not that bad. I can understand it now. Surviving is the word. Just it.

Dynazty “Game of Faces” will be released on February 14th via Nuclear Blast Records.
