Guitar Meets Science has shared a new mini-documentary. Check it out below:
“This week, we dig into one of metal’s most under-told sagas: the rise, silence, and ultimate reckoning of Jason Newsted.. From the moment he stepped into Metallica’s orbit following the tragic death of Cliff Burton, Newsted was never treated as an equal. He got the gig, but not the voice. They buried his bass on …And Justice For All, froze him out of the writing room, and then killed his creative outlet when he finally tried to build something of his own. For 14 years, Jason Newsted stood on stage with the world’s biggest metal band while being pushed further into the background. But in the end, he did what no one else in Metallica ever dared – he walked away. This is the story of the man they tried to mute, and the silence that changed the band forever.”
Jason Newsted was with Metallica from 1986–2001. He recorded one EP and four albums with the band: The $5.98 E.P. – Garage Days Re-Revisited (1987), …And Justice For All (1988), Metallica (1991), Load (1996) and Reload (1997).
