Fans expecting to see the bloated, shambling corpse of a once decent glam metal act at this year’s Boardwalk Rock Festival in Ocean City, Maryland on May 17 will be disappointed to learn that Mötley Crüe have dropped off the bill entirely due to health concerns. But the silver lining on that news is that Alice In Chains will be taking their spot, so… win/win?
This news comes roughly a month after the band postponed their spring Las Vegas residency because of ongoing issues with Vince Neil’s health. It’s unclear at this time if those same health concerns are forcing the band to miss the Boatrdwalk Rock Festival, but odds are good. Still, the band released a statement explaining their absence.
“Motley Crue Will be unable to perform at Boardwalk Rock in Ocean City, Md., on May 17 as Vince Neil is recuperating after a required medical procedure advised by the doctors. Vince’s health comes firs, and we fully support him in prioritizing his recovery. Please join us in wishing him well.
“We sincerely apologize to everyone who was looking forward to the show and appreciate your understanding. Our friends Alice in Chains are confirmed to take our place on May 17 and we are immensely grateful to them for stepping up and bringing their awesome show to Boardwalk Rock.
“Thank you to all the Crueheads for your continued support. We can’t wait for Vince to fully recuperate and to be back onstage again soon.
– Motley Crue”
So there ya have it. If you were planning on heading down to Maryland to catch Vince Neil sucking down oxygen on stage, you’re gonna have to hold off and find a new show to attend.
