This was my favorite song on this cassette.
I went through a few by constant rewinding!
Reminds me of Baptist college 😆
Nooooo! There’s rock and roll in my rock and roll song.
Was that jack black that he spanked
Most underrated Styx song
Funny thing if you were born between 1951=1980 in the US you are dumber from passively huffing leaded gas as a young child. It had nothing to do with "sex and drugs" and everything to do with greed. Heavy Metal Poisoning indeed!
I really wish I had seen them in concert during this tour. I had a chance but didn’t think I could get tickets, so I didn’t even try. I was so wrong! I regret that now!
In 1983 Styx followed in the footsteps of Twisted Sister.
How ironically accurate this depicts my childhood. Bible banging parents, pushing their agenda and telling me how EVIL rock and roll music was. Grew up in the 80's and missed a lot of the greatest music ever written due to them. I'm just glad that I'm able to go back and hear it all again and know, it's NOT EVIL!!! One more thing, how can there be VH1 logos on this video?? This was MTV!!!!
Even ten years after the Kinks ill-fated "Preservation" records, the world was still not ready for the combination of rock n roll and theater.
This album gets a lot of hate. This is the one that hooked me on Styx, then I had to backtrack to find their other treasures😉
One of my favorite Styx albums
The crazy concept and theatrics really remind me of Queen. I could totally see Freddie Mercury performing this.
I love how the bad guy hams it up. In that sense, this album's like a Disney movie: the villain gets the best song.
I think Dennis's idea was solid, and this song represents that. Maybe the whole thing was a tad overboard, but it came out at a time when that anti-rock clan was in the news constantly, so it was prevalent
Nearly a decade later Tommy Shaw went "metal" by forming Damn Yankees…….. Haha.
And this began the Styx downfall
I like to call myself a fan of heavy metal & classic rock. This is the first time i heard this song. I was today years old😮 definitely going on my playlist
2024 I'm still smokin
"First we'll spank your big behinds…"😅😅😅
I love this. I'm sure it's a dig at the Parents Music Resource Center (PMRC). Here is a link to what the PMRC was, for those who don't know: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parents_Music_Resource_Center. I'm hoping someone went after rap just as hard, lol!!
My favorite song from this album
That poor dude brainwashed by the mmm ruined and dead!! That videos tail end shouldve had the the caption, TO BE CONTINUED. As such that is the WORST video with a sad ending, that poor guy dead foever. DOWN WITH THE MMM!!
HA HA a young Jack Black at 14
That's totally Grover yelling SHUT UP at the kids at the end.
Was that jack black as a teenager?
I can't be the only one who noticed that at 4:23/24 on the bottom right side of the screen a woman gets accidentally punched in the back of the head…hahahaha i just saw this video for the 1st time on mtv classic and had to do 6 replays of the punch
Maybe its because these fucks like Dr. Righteous have crawled back out the woodwork, but as I got older, this song grew into my fav Styx song.
Is the kid Jack Black?
I love how they got the children to say $**&drugs over and over. 🥰😎
Edit: But in the video it's chanted by a bunch of ADULTS. 🤣🤣
1983: Tipper Gore: BURN HEAVY METAL ALBUMS!
2020~Liberal Snowflaks: BURN NETFLIX CUTIES! 🤣🤣
1:32 The 3 notes 🎶 (pow pow pow) are an homage to the same 3 notes (and from JY to himself) from You Need Love from Styx II。
JY was fine with the concept here.
This version doesn't contain the intro
Moru beesu boosu sassa dis croc dooloc
Just a great song
A hypocritical fascist culture war in America? It sounded like science fiction back then!
when i was in the raised by wolves james young group , we played this one kh
