JORDAN RUDESS, the Keyboard Player of DREAM THEATER, Unveils Fresh Song “Permission To Fly,” Announces Latest Solo Record

Date:

Jordan Rudess, the keyboardist of Dream Theater, reveals the arrival of his new individual album, Permission To Fly, scheduled for September 6th, 2024 through Inside Out Music. To get a taste, watch the official music video for the latest release “The Alchemist,” overseen by Wayne Joyner.

Renowned for challenging musical frontiers, Rudess characterizes the record as a profound dive into the human state within our intricate world: “The album’s core is heavily influenced by the tumultuous occurrences of 2023-2024, with themes of tranquility and anti-violence threaded throughout many of the compositions,” he elaborates.

This time, Rudess chose a collaborative method, gathering a team of musicians to bring forth his vision. The album showcases That Joe Payne on vocals, the robust drumming by Darby Todd from Devin Townsend, and Steve Dadaian on guitar. Additionally, guest guitarist Bastian Martinez contributes his distinctive touch to select tracks.

Rudess believed it was vital to give deep thought to the album’s song texts. For this purpose, he turned towards his own family: “All the lyrics within the album were crafted by my daughter, Ariana. While I do enjoy penning down lyrics myself, my main focus often gravitates towards the sonic quality of the words. For this album, I aspired to delve deeper and furnish something that resonated on a more profound and intellectual level. Ari did a phenomenal job.”

Permission To Fly will be accessible in a Limited CD Digipak, a 180g 2LP Gatefold (both including additional tracks), and digital versions. Pre-order options are open here.
