Twelve albums in, or is it re-release twelve?
Our merry Finns are at it again, just swell!
Folk metal warriors, fast as a breeze,
With their fiddles, accordions – can we ever be pleased?!
“Kotomaa” kicks off like a familiar old dance,
A galloping tune, but not much of a chance.
It’s power chords and polka, all shiny and bright,
Wait! Wasn’t this the same song from last night?
Oh, “Viikatelintu,” with your plaintive strings,
Elegance? Maybe. But we’re just rehashing things.
Strip Finnish folk naked, drench it in booze,
Then chase it ‘round forests, there’s nothing to lose!
Rankarumpu tries hard, a frantic race,
But somewhere mid-section, it loses the pace.
Formulaic melodies, rinse and repeat,
Like a never-ending polka stuck on repeat!
Thirteen tracks long, oh what a feast,
But by “Rankarumpu”, I’m ready for peace.
Still, for Clan members, you’ll love the ride,
It’s more of the same – predictable, tried.
Oh hey! Let’s not despair,
You’ll guzzle this down, without a care.
What to say?! It’s Korpiklaani, tried and true,
But for some of us, the spark’s askew.
Is this their best? Well, I’ll leave that to you,
If vodka-drenched polka is what gets you through!
But for me, dear Korpiklaani, let’s be fucking real –
It’s time for some new folk-metal deal and zeal.
