Upon encountering the term “cinematic metal,” it unfolds as a realm of multifaceted possibilities, doesn’t it? Disconnected Souls’ latest creation is a themed opus traversing from “Gothic fantasy realms to lethal club environments to a dystopian revelry of the world’s demise.” It appears to be akin to a diverse spectrum of cinematic genres. The sonic experience is grand, synth-laden, and infectious.

Green Day unveils their fresh offering after a four-year hiatus filled with vibrant, anthemic tunes that might not sit well with die-hard punk enthusiasts or critics questioning their relevance to the metal arena. It maintains a consistent quality akin to their recent works. These tracks appear primed for lively performances.

Craving peculiarity intertwined with your thunderous, weighty riffs? Why would you decline such an offer? Embrace the eccentricity, don’t shy away. Lord Dying offers yet another lush, progressive sludge soundscape, and it would be impolite to overlook it. Jeff’s elaborate evaluation can be found here.

It’s challenging to perceive like there’s been a genuine absence of Master material since they have released a myriad of content over the past six years. Nevertheless, this marks their premiere full album during that period. They enlisted a new percussionist, Peter Bajci, who is junior by five years than the band’s duration, yet adept in traditional death metal.

Usually, it’s not my style, but I am more inclined to voice my discontent about the absence of the Oxford comma in this album title than the musical content. It presents itself as remarkable, quintessential heavy metal from one of the originators of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. However, the absence of the second comma appears peculiar. Upon further investigation, while termed the “Oxford comma” – yes, that’s right, I am indeed delving into this – it is less prevalent in the UK. Peculiar. Anyway, this review comes courtesy of Jeff.

Upon Stone – Dead Mother Moon

Genre: Melodic death metal/metalcore
Origin: Los Angeles, California
Label: Century Media

This acts as a stellar debut. The production exudes a raw sound, but amid the grit, the melodic intervals gleam. Blackened instances are interspersed, along with intense guitar work. Astounding. Dive into this before it catches on with the masses.

Wasp Mother – Digital Pollution

Genre: Grindcore/death metal

Ending this week with a concise yet substantial EP. The six songs pulverize and crush the audience into a mixture, then solidify that blend into solid cubes only to shatter the cubes into fragments. It also includes some light-hearted moments, which come as a surprise. All of this compacted into about nine minutes.
