The 80’s clothing styles were not kind to icons historical legacy.
Seeing plant in that outfit and hair, he looks more like Molly Ringwalds date from breakfast club than the Rock God of the 70’s

The 3 remaining Zep members paid to NOT have their appearance in the DVD. They donated $$ to make up for any losses from people not buying the CD.

I don't know what's sadder/funnier? This catastrophe – or Clapton and Beck at the ARMS benefit show in 1983, looking on in abject horror as a smacked-out-of-his-gourd Page butchered "Stairway" almost worse than he did here at "Live Aid". At least he didn't try to play "Rock 'n' Roll" with a flanger turned up to 27 while having a wrestling match with a mike stand, on that night.

Heroin is a hell of a drug.

I was there that day in Philly, from start to finish. Nobody cared about the quality of the performances. It was all about the moment, and it was amazing.

It's not the 'disaster' that band-wagon-jumpers claim it to be.

Page is unfairly maligned for this performance; he certainly wasn't the weakest link. With a bit of remixing – and perhaps some pitch correction on Plant's vox – this could actually sound pretty good.

  21. I had no idea Chester was there, putting it all on Phil, was Peter Grant not managing them for this, someone should have made sure Jimmy had a in tune Guitar and another in case. That may have been from the mic stand incident….. (that's when someone to the side calls a time out, everyone has a smoke and you start again). They did not become the biggest band in the world being stoners, someone, everyone was sober but Jimmy.
Rob is a pro, sang in tune over that flawlessly.
I can see why he thinks the Drumming was wrong, he carried that lead in stairway to long, or Robert qued them to wind it up. Everyone did but Jimmy. It's most recent so last thing he remembers at the interview after.
I wonder how vocal JPJ was after this, that he was not invited to the eventual reunion album and tour. I'm sure he could hear it.

Just got done with Phil Collins autobiography and he goes into detail about this show. I truly don't think it was as bad as he remembers it. No backing tapes. Just pure rock n roll. Phil was wise to let Tony take the lead on all the drum parts and lay out. They all did pretty damn good.

Never understood the need for 2 drummers…also hard to watch seeing they used to put on 3hr concerts 5 years earlier with precision and ease…..this definitely was put on with good intention..should of called it Members of Led Zeppelin

It is not as bad a some portray it. Plant was pretty decent. Page…well, he uhh…I mean amazing that he could even play. Collins just not suited for the role, but no fault of his own.
