I had to find out about Ata, as I didn't understand that reference. Now I do. What a wonderful song of hope. We need hope right now.
I have never read Tolkein, but as I understand it, LOTR is about a bunch of heroes from different cultures and races working together to defeat Dark Forces? That is what I hear in this song. And what we need to be doing right now. The battlefields have changed, the foes are different, but the cause hasn't. Homeland and Brethren. Homeland is the Planet and Brethren is all those who honour her and our kindred creatures and flora upon her. That simple. "They" have forgotten that. In all their mess. But if you cut through it all, that is the bare bones of it. You either buy into Doom, or you cling on and fight for Hope.
We will win. Because there is no alternative. We adapt or we die.

This song is in my Top 3 from the album! I love the message and the instrumentation! I get goosebumps from the part halfway through when the traditional Tongan chanting blends with the classic Nightwish symphonic orchestration. Absolutely amazing.

The song makes me cry after learning about the Tongan Castaways, it's a story of resilience, but something about the boys going through what they have, the lengths they had to go to keep going, the WILL they had to do whatever it takes. It's an unimaginable nightmare that they turned into a hopeful song. Literally. They made a guitar and sang together just as the lyrics state in the song. I want to say "those poor boys" but what I end up feeling each time is "those brave warriors," because that's what they were. What a powerful testament to an inexplicably hopeful instance of history that might well go unnoticed.
