Grungey football fans rejoice! Well, if you’re a 49ers or Seahawks fan at least. Candlebox, the fools who gave us “Far Behind” and “Cover Me,” took to the stage during the Thursday Night Football halftime show for the San Francisco 49ers-versus-Seattle Seahawks game at Lumen Field in, you guessed it, Seattle, WA. Their return home on October 10 featured a medley of their hits including the aforementioned two, along with “You” and others. There are some fan-filmed videos of it below.
They’ve been on tour for over a year now celebrating the 30th anniversary of their 4x platinum self-titled debut. If you know the hits, then of course it makes sense that shit’s gone platinum so many times.
Recently, Candlebox released a digital version of their album The Long Goodbye. A Little Longer Goodbye (Tour Edition) is their eighth studio album and includes all of the original songs, a new single titled “Washed Up,” AND two bonus live tracks. “Elegante” and “Cellphone Jesus” (love this name) were taken from a performance they did in 2023 at Club Amanda in Santiago, Chile.
The fangirlies were definitely not happy when Candlebox broke up after the release of Wolves back in 2021. Of the decision, frontman Kevin Martin had this to say:
“I’ve always been kind of the reluctant lead singer of this band. All of the time I’ve spent with CANDLEBOX has been obviously rewarding and enjoyable and the experience has been amazing, but when COVID hit, being home with my son and my wife was just eye-opening. It was everything I had realized I really wanted and had missed so much of.”
We totally get the sentiments but we’re glad you’re back, Candlebox.
