Alright guys, so while I already listened to Black by Pearl Jam, it’s been on my mind to give this song another video because I don’t think I fully appreciated it the first time around. I know reacting is what I do on this channel, but sometimes I wish I could have a do-over..and while that’s impossible – it IS possible to come back to a song, listen again..and give it the extra attention I think it deserves. Will you join me again?
Don’t forget to leave me a request! 🎵

You should really do "Porch" from Pink Pop. You you won't regret it.
He quit singing it for a while live (in the early days) because it was too painful.
NIKKI, BEAUTIFUL REACTION AND ANALYSIS OF PEARL JAM'S "BLACK" I'M SO HAPPY YOU REACTED TO PEARL JAM'S PINKPOP VERSION, ANY VERSION OF "BLACK" IS INCREDIBLE!! YOU MIGHT WANT TO REACT TO "PORCH" SAME CONCERT IT'S CRAZY!! OR THEIR NEIL YOUNG COVER "KEEP ON ROCKIN IN THE FREE WORLD" SAME CONCERT, IT'S INCREDIBLE TOO! YOUR DOING A FANTASTIC JOB REACTING, THANK YOU NIKKI🌹😊💓🔥🤘✌️
To me Pearl Jam could never do wrong but in a few cases I thought the Unplugged version was more fitting with the sentiment of the song, this is one of those. To me it doesn’t make the same impact.
Nikki is absolutely beautiful and pretty as always have an amazing night ❤
Wow Nikki thank you so much for brightening my day today. Anytime I hear Pearl jam, I'm blown away. Especially by the song "Black" in particular
I'm still hoping for another Stone Temple Pilots song though. I hope you'll be able to do "Creep" sooner or later. It's a very deep song
Once a year I watch that specific Pinkpop performance for the absolute raw explosive energy, they left nothing on the table that day, fun memories 😄
❤❤❤❤ Thanks Nikki incredibly song , touch my soul..
Recommend you Steven Wilson, Significant other or Harmony Korine..
Regards from Chile…
Great Reaction. I agree, this is one of the most emotional, heart-breaking songs ever. For your own enjoyment, check out a later, post-2000 performance of "Black" some time — Mike McCready's solo at the end will be a lot longer and it somehow makes it even better. Also: 1) If you love emotionally charged lyrics/performances, Pearl Jam is for you, and 2) I cannot recommend enough that you watch a live performance of them doing "Release". This version still gives me goosebumps: https://youtu.be/Y2vwLBkA4vg?si=qmh2KDay6HHltXGe
There's also a lot of other fantastic songs in their catalog still to be discovered!
I, like many other fans of this song, love this song so much because we feel that it could have been written about us.
Every time I hear it I am transported back to moments in my life where I was hurt and broken. I see faces and feel feelings. Cherished memories that I both want to forget and never forget. Memories that broke me and built me at the same time. Moments in my life. Moments of love. Lost.
"Porch" from Pinkpop is the one that should be mandatory viewing. You did a reaction to their Unplugged performance, where he fell out of his stool and wrote "Pro Choice" on his arm.
Pinkpop is an annual music festival in Holland.
Another vote for Porch from this concert. That's the must-watch.
Yeah, this song captured my heartbreak perfectly when my fiancée left me for someone else… A very bleak 2 years followed…
PJ is my ALL-time favorite band!! Glad to see somebody a little younger listening.
React to "Do the evolution" "Release" "immortality" "given to fly"
The one shot of the crowd reminded me a smaller version of PolandRock where TheWarning played last year before 150k crowd. The info on google says this concert held 60k so that was a pretty good guess if I do say so myself,LOL .Pinkpop 92 refers to 1992 edition of the Pinkpop music festival which took place in the Netherlands and also considered a legendary performance by Pearl Jam marking one of their first large scale shows in front of a huge audience .
Black always one of my faves from Pearl Jam .
Beautiful wrap up of this song and as Ive said before since I've belonged to your channel and even watching some of your older reactions further back than that I feel you've gotten a lot better and a big part of that is getting more comfortable with what you're doing so don't beat yourself up too much ,again great reaction Nikki !
Hope you get to do Do the Evolution
From one PJ fan to another (their music has pulsed thru my veins for nearly 35 yrs) their documentary film Pearl Jam 20 is a must see ❤️🔥 I hope you can check it out!
It's interesting that Black seems to be PJs most popular song nowadays considering it was never released as a single. I'm guessing YouTube and the unplugged version have a lot to do with that. For me personally Black didn't initially grab me on my first several listens to Ten because I was more familiar with the singles but eventually it rose to the top and became my favorite PJ song. But the younger me never would have imagined it would be their most popular song.
You are sooo right about this song, Nikki. My favorite from Pearl Jam.
Pinkpop is a popular festival in Holland. I lived there when I was a kid but moved back to Canada in 88, so I missed Pearl Jam playing there. Sooo bummed about that, it looks like it was an epic show. 😢
You can listen to as many versions of Black as you want, Nikki – it is in my top 10 songs of all time. Just beautiful and filled with emotion. And that line is the one for sure, it kills me every time I hear it just like it did the first time I heard it.
I have only heard the guys perform this one once live in the handful of times I’ve seen them live, and it was the first time I saw them way back in ‘93. Hoping to catch them do it at least one more time before either of us take our bows. ❤
❤❤❤❤❤❤
NIKKI, ON THE SIDE STAGE IS THE BAND SOUNDGARDEN CHRIS CORNELL, THIS IS CHRIS'S FAVORITE SONG FROM PEARL JAM. YOU CAN SEE CHRIS PEEKING THROUGH ON THE SIDE. JUST A FUN FACT. 🌹😊❤️
One of the best concerts ever. Checkout "porch" from the same concert. One the best stagedivings ever.

this song breaks me every time … rough time getting back with some I hurt, who was over it, so the lyrics you quoted, oaf!
To me, that was PJ at their peak. Just listen to Mike's guitar and Dave's drumming, jfc. They lost a lot when Dave got kicked out, too bad. He's still a star in my sky 😉
Black Shmack again
Once I lost a girl exactly like in this song. Identical same situation my heart was broken into millions of pieces we belonged together. Many many years after that, I was about to get married to my beautiful wife, and this girlfriend from the past reached out to me. She came to me and we had a beautiful conversation. We laughed about the past and talked about our experiences since the last time we saw each other. Well, it turns out I had found another beautiful star to fill my sky, while she was still lost without properly finding someone else. Nothing against her, eventually she found something and she is doing OK. However it is me the one enjoying a beautiful life when once I thought I was doomed forever… We just don't know what the future will bring, gotta enjoy every second we have❤❤
