When it comes to noise rock/doom metal/riff bludgeoners from around the world, few have the sound and name like Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs. It’s been more than a year since the release of their 2023 album Land of Sleeper, but today they dropped a new song titled “Detroit” that has less to do about the Motor City than it does about toxic masculinity.
Released earlier today, the visceral song has a lyric video that kind of sets the tone for the whole thing. It’s fuzzy, it’s heavy, and according to vocalist Matt Baty, its lyrical content is trying to put some dark shit to light.
“‘Detroit’ reflects on the worst manifestations of male jealousy and resentment, and the ways in which the deliberate avoidance of accountability can lead to deflecting responsibility in exchange for blaming external forces like fate or God for perceived injustice.”
Though you can stream the song wherever and watch the music video below, you can also buy the track digitally. If you do any of those things, the band said they will donate all proceeds generated through “Detroit” to domestic abuse charities ahead of their next tour.
That timeline gives the world nearly a month to kick in the funds to help some people in need, as the band announced a U.K. headlining tour that’ll start on April 3 in Brighton, U.K. and come to an end on April 16 in Glasgow. After that, they’ll go on a short European run from May 17 in Paris until May 28 in Hamburg, Germany.
According to the band, U.S. fans won’t have to wait too much longer after that, as they plan on crossing the Atlantic to kick some ass in North America too. You can find the full list of already planned out dates below the music video.
