god is my savuior
I can never get over how sexy Seven Churches sounds, I don't know what it is. The guitars on Holy Hell are hypnotic & amazing. I even bought a Death Metal Pedal to get closer to that old school nasty 80's Possessed / Bathory sound =)m/ people like Jeff Becerra, Tomi Iommi & Rick Allen embody what Heavy Metal is all about.
I got into Possessed in the early 80s and was into their music, but I'm not sure if they're originators of death metal. Exodus, Napalm Death, Celtic frost all formed around 1981-83. I heard the demo from Exodus's Bonded By Blood in 82 and that was the heaviest music in existence. I remember Napalm Death's Peel Session and Death's Scream Bloody Gore right after. Not to take anything away from Possessed, as they were bad ass, and I don't doubt they coined the term.
I remember I had the Possessed and Death cassette tapes for months before I had the courage to make it through the whole album. It may sound corny nowadays but back in the day this was some scary shit especially when you’re a young kid brought up in a somewhat religious family. I’m so happy these guy are still going and putting out quality music. This is highly intelligent music that makes me proud even as an adult I can stand behind and support…long live Jeff Becerra, a fucking living legend not only as a musician but also a human being. His passion and energy is an inspiration to me.
Death thrash
3:51 bruh did he fart
But I feels more like thrash metal Jeff but either way it is death metal
Death in her Embraced.👍🏻
Dream come true to see possessed.at one of the two major los Angeles fest.
I've been with Possessed since yall dropped 7 Churches in 85. You were such a refreshing change from the hair metal/glam rock shit from those days. When I found out how young Jeff Becerra was when he penned those lyrics, it blew my mind. He has both occult and biblical knowledge to write that album. A masterpiece for sure. Much respect to the kings of Death Metal
they are heavy as fuck despite playing in e standard
Unser Schlagzeuger hat euren Chef immer gehasst weil der nen Porsche fuhr… diese kaputten Linken Öko Vega BLAH IDIOTEN. Das war 1990.
By the way . Jeff was 14/15 when he started with possessed and cut that demo.
My first concert was Black Sabbath in Salt Lake City at the end of summer (parents let me miss some school after spending the summer with my aunt and uncle) in 1972…just turned 10 y.o. and it changed my life forever. The next summer they took me to see Alice Cooper on the Billion Dollar Babies tour (with Steely Dan) as well, in Salt Lake. My point being is: my entire life from the age of 9 to my old age now ( 🤕 ) has been devoted to hard rock and heavy metal. Joined the military and was fortunate enough to see around 100 shows during my 21 year career and many more prior to enlisting. I have never heard anything more 'death' metal than shit I heard in Norway and Sweden. That music ( using the term loosely here, for it was 'not' music to me ), was extremely bass heavy and screeching dual guitars. Even purchased several albums that they were selling at the shows. Can't remember which bands were on it but, "Bitches Sin" and of course – "POSSESSED" we would play the death (pun intended) out of these albums at keggers when I would go home on leave…or rock the shit out of the barracks. Great music! 😎🤙🤘
I could be mistaken but didn’t the original Possessed lead singer shoot himself infront of his girlfriends house?
BadAssssssss🖤🖤🖤❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
From day 1 when I first heard "The Exorcist" when the album released, I knew I was hooked. I owe everything I love about music to Possessed. In all it's incarnations. Hails.
Jeff Beccera is a trooper!!!
No Larry LaLonde? No Possessed
Why they don't show the names of people who are speaking? is that Mike Torrao at 00:50 ?
Great
Best of death metal for me, hail possessed 🤘🏻

Jeff and Erik Rutan, Corpsegrinder are among the greatest dudes in metal and just g good dudes in general.
what about death, just second only? i think they co – founded the death metal genre?
I love the music but shit is cringe as fuck…
"We wanted to create the most evil music"😂
That's a lie chuck never heard of possessed until Gene hoglan played the song for him in the studio That's why the song was never released on the album because Gene was playing the guitar not Chuck
This aged poorly
funny Torrao publicly describes them as thrash and LaLonde as speed metal, jeff can call it DM but they didn't play it. Hellhammer was far heavier and 'deathlier' then Death gave us the first true DM band in sound and style. Possessed is simply evil thrash regardless of how Jeff wants to view it, they play in standard tuning, and the riffs are thrash riffs, raspy vocals. Compare Death's riffs, sound, heaviness, tuning, chucks growls etc and its night and day as to who created the first DM record.
