TMZ reports that PUDDLE OF MUDD‘s Wes Scantlin was arrested earlier this week following an alleged physical altercation with his girlfriend.
Police responded to an apartment in Torrance, California, around 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 11. After speaking with Wes and his girlfriend, officers determined that a verbal dispute had allegedly escalated into a physical altercation. The 52-year-old musician was also found in possession of a small quantity of a controlled substance.
Scantlin was taken into custody at 4:01 a.m. and booked at 5:12 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff Inmate Information Center. He faces charges of felony domestic violence and possession of a controlled substance. As of Saturday morning, he remained in a Los Angeles County Jail, with bail set at $90,000.
Earlier this month, Scantlin grabbed headlines after alleging that an ex-bandmate “roofied” him before a disastrous PUDDLE OF MUDD performance at Daytona Bike Week.
Scantlin, accused of being impaired on stage, claims a former bandmate intentionally compromised his performance. Reports from the show describe him stumbling and rambling, leading to audience dissatisfaction.
“Last night’s show was a total disaster. I felt really bad for the rest of his band,” noted one attendee in the comments of the Broken Spoke Saloon’s posting about the show.
“I feel bad for the band to have to play such good instruments while Wes just stumbled and rambled about Fred Durst on stage. Good work amazing performance put on to everyone but Wes,” another person added.
The next day, a fan stopped Scantlin outside the venue and recorded a video asking him about the show. The video was shared on the Facebook page of Cash4HarleyParts.com, where the vocalist said: “I suck, I suck and I suck … but I was roofied.”
“My old bass player Sean Sammon roofied me last night, so he can go f**k his a*s,” Scantlin concluded his statement with an obscene gesture towards the camera, directed at Sammon, before departing.
