REVIEW: FRANCESCO MARRAS’ Out Of The Fire – “‘Rise From The Ashes’ And ‘Code Red’

(Hell Tour Productions)

Francesco Marras is an Italian guitarist, bassist, singer, composer, songwriter and session man on many projects with Alessandro Del Vecchio (Frontiers), solo artist and guitarist for Tygers Of Pan Tang since 2020, and Screaming Shadows. Here, Marras plays guitar, bass, and sings on six songs.

Among the guest singers are Gianni Pontillo for punchy Tyger’s type upbeat rocker “Carnival Of Darkness” where a throbbing bass sets up the song’s romp, David Readman (Pink Cream 69) on the soulful “Lost Souls”, which coincidently reminds me of Readman’s music with Alex Beyrodt’s Voodoo Circle, and Tygers bandmate Iacopo Meille on a heavy, symphonic accented “Cyber Lust”.

Marco Garrucciu on bouzouki (pear shape Turkish string guitar) for slower moody “Out Of The Fire”, and track four, adds a Mediterranean middle-eastern texture. Marras takes the mic for riffs driven “Rise From the Ashes” and “Code Red” – two great slabs of Primal Fear metal.

“Hear And Now” more for the modern rock listener, and closer “More Then Life” ends the album on a different tone then its start.
