Roadrunner Records Apparently Reissuing DEATH’s ‘Symbolic’ On Vinyl

Roadrunner Records may be reissuing DEATH‘s seminal 1995 album, Symbolic, on vinyl, much to the excitement of fans worldwide. The album, which has been out of print on vinyl for several years, is highly regarded in the death metal community for its technical proficiency and profound lyrical themes.

Originally released on March 21, 1995, Symbolic marked DEATH‘s sixth studio album and featured the talents of Chuck Schuldiner (vocals and guitar), Gene Hoglan (drums), Bobby Koelble (guitar), and Kelly Conlon (bass).

Over the years, Symbolic has seen limited reissues. In 2008, Roadrunner Records released a remastered CD version that included several previously unreleased demo tracks from 1994, offering fans a glimpse into the album’s developmental stages. Later, in 2014, a vinyl reissue was made available, with an initial run of 1,500 copies pressed on 180-gram white vinyl. This edition quickly became a collector’s item, leading to a 2021 repress due to high demand.

Despite these reissues, Symbolic has remained relatively scarce in the vinyl market, with original pressings and past reissues fetching high prices among collectors. Recently, however, the album has appeared for pre-order on multiple online stores, including Rough Trade (check here)—a well-established and reputable retailer.

Product description on Rough Trade listing reads as follows: “To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of its release in 1995, Roadrunner Records is making available again the sixth album by legendary Florida metallers DEATH on vinyl. Symbolic received widespread critical acclaim when it was originally released and has been regarded as one of the greatest death metal albums of all time.”
