Like we said a few weeks back… Sweden is killing it right now.
SABATON have just announced a brand new single, due out on the 25th of April, titled “Templars.”
“”Templars” chronicles the dramatic rise and fall of the Knights Templar, an order of warrior-monks founded in the early 12th century to protect Christian pilgrims in the Holy Land,” SABATON explained on Facebook yesterday morning (Saturday, 12th of April).
Further elaborating on the background of the single, SABATON illustrate that the warrior-monks were “bound by vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience, they grew into a wealthy and influential force across Europe, until the early 14th century, when King Philip IV of France accused them of heresy and corruption, leading to their sudden and brutal downfall.”
… Would it be too optimistic to wish history may repeat itself? Only this kind of situation, though.
There’s something about history that can be very telling – and the band wants to know, “have you heard their story before?”
