Kansas City was alive with energy on February 28, 2025, as Sevendust kicked off their highly anticipated U.S. headlining “In Dust We Trust” tour at The Truman, delivering a night of crushing riffs, soaring melodies, and raw emotion to a sold-out crowd. With support from rising heavyweights Barrage and Horizon Theory, the evening showcased modern hard rock and metal at its finest.
This headlining tour will see Sevendust bringing their powerful sound to cities across the country, running through March 29 in Springfield, Missouri, with additional stops in other states as well. The tour takes place between the band’s performances, opening for Disturbed on “The Sickness”, the 25th anniversary tour, which also features special guests, Three Days Grace. For these headlining dates, Horizon Theory is along for the ride, making each stop a must-see night of hard rock and high energy.
Barrage kicked off the night, immediately capturing attention with their tight musicianship and dynamic stage presence. Their set blended melody with aggression, setting the tone for what was to follow. Horizon Theory then took the stage, delivering a heavier and more intense vibe that engaged the audience, with heads banging in unison. Both bands successfully primed the crowd for the main event.
Sevendust Delivers a Career-Spanning Set
From the moment Sevendust took the stage, the energy in the room was palpable. The band launched straight into “Pieces,” igniting the crowd into a frenzy. The chemistry between frontman Lajon Witherspoon, guitarists Clint Lowery and John Connolly, bassist Vince Hornsby, and drummer Morgan Rose was undeniable, showing why they remain one of the most respected acts in the hard rock scene.
Sevendust wasted no time delivering fan-favorite “Denial” and the anthemic “Praise,” sending waves of nostalgia through longtime fans while keeping newer audiences just as captivated. “Crucified” and “Enemy” carried the same intensity, with Witherspoon’s soulful yet powerful vocals cutting through the chaos.
The band took a poignant turn with “Angel’s Son,” a song that has long held deep emotional weight. Witherspoon’s heartfelt delivery and the crowd’s sing-along made for a truly special moment, one that brought a sense of unity among the audience. But the brief moment of calm quickly turned back into a storm as the band powered through “Black,” arguably their most iconic song, sending the crowd into a full-scale eruption.
Fans were also treated to tracks from Sevendust’s most recent album, Truth Killer (2023), which fit seamlessly alongside the band’s classic hits, further demonstrating their ability to evolve while staying true to their signature sound.
The closing trio—“Disgrace,” “Disease,” and the ever-explosive “Face to Face”—wrapped up the night with a blistering finale. The energy inside The Truman didn’t wane for a second, with fans screaming along and moshing until the very last note.
Sevendust continues to prove why they’ve remained a dominant force in rock and metal for nearly three decades. Their live show is not just a concert but an experience filled with passion, intensity, and a connection between band and audience that few can replicate.
The “In Dust We Trust” tour is a must-see for any fan of heavy music, and if this Kansas City show was any indication, Sevendust is showing no signs of slowing down.
