TEITANBLOOD’s From The Visceral Abyss – “Elite Death/Black Metal”

(Norma Evangelium Diaboli)

Welcome to the sounds of hell. Teitanblood emerge from their crypts in Madrid with an unrelenting, punishing force of death/black metal. From The Visceral Abyss is their fourth full-length and offers a spectral, mystifying, and cavernous of unimaginable horror. Imagine taking Slayer’s Hell Awaits taken it’s to its most extreme musically.

Teitanblood conjures a sound that really does seem to emanate from a Visceral Abyss. The vocals are harsh echoes with intimidating, divebomb guitars and pummeling yet technically proficient drums. It is a nonstop, relentless assault – a 7 track 50 minute hostile nightmare.

It’s like one long ride through hell as each cut segues into the next one – the best use is the most “straightforward” of the bunch, death thrash of “Strangling Visions” hammering right into “And Darkness Was All” is immaculate. These guys have a knack to turn up the heat and at the right moments and when to inflict strained melodies as momentary respite from the warfare unleashed.

The mammoth closer and almost 15 minute “Tomb Corpse Haruspex” nails the atmosphere with precision utilizing nightmarish passages, whispered, cursing vocals, a horn section, and an almost hard rock-ish guitar solo. Just an insane composition.

Shame I just caught up to these Spaniards now. The rest of their discography is also worthy of investigation. Stunningly good and has this magnetizing feeling of coming back for more. From The Visceral Abyss is astounding in its execution – elite death/black metal.
