‘The Tour Ended In Her Bedroom’

Richie Kotzen recently spilled the beans on a wild visit to FLEETWOOD MAC’s Stevie Nicks back in the early ’90s, where she took him on a tour of her house — and, as Kotzen put it, “the tour ended in her bedroom.”

In a chat with Hot Metal to hype up his new album Black Light/White Noise, a collaboration with IRON MAIDEN guitarist Adrian Smith, Kotzen also gave a nod to his love affair with Los Angeles, his adopted hometown.

“Whereas some people come here to try and get into the scene, I was moved here by a major record company with major connections,” Kotzen said. “I remember going to a party at Stevie Nicks’ house and I’m there with a couple of people. She opens the door. She sees me. We had the same manager at the time, Howard Kaufman… she says, ‘hey let me give you a tour of the house’. And she gives me a tour of the house. The tour ended in her bedroom. And I was 20 years old, 21 possibly, very young.”

Nicks is currently 76, so the encounter likely happened when she was around 40 or 41 years old.

“In my mind … I knew who she was, [she] was not super on my radar, you know, as far as the music that I listened to,” he continued. “I remember saying to her ‘wow, you have a lovely house – I’d better go find my friends’. I have many stories like that, in my first couple of years in LA. I moved here and I was immediately in that kind of a thing.”
